First Voices! First Women Speak! Gathering in Ottawa

On August 24th, 2012, I had the pleasure of attending a gift of a gathering at the Odawa Native Friendship Centre (www.odawa.on.ca) entitled: “First Voices! First Women Speak!”.  This well planned and inspired day-long event was put on by the Indigenous People’s Solidarity Movement Ottawa (IPSMO).  Beautiful words were spoken to those in attendance (roughly 100 people?) by Viola Thomas, Claudette Commanda, Lee Maracle, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, and Vera Wabegigij.  Here is some of what they spoke about that day.

Please have a listen to what these inspired and inspiring women had to say and take some time to reflect and connect.
